Bufflehead runs as a lightweight service on each workstation, bridging the AI tools your people already use with the data your company already has.

01 Install the app Download the native binary for your OS. It runs as a local service — no Docker, no infrastructure, nothing to provision.

02 Connect your data Drop in a folder of data files, connect an S3 bucket, or add Postgres or MySQL. Reach private databases through an SSH jump host, or use AWS SSM for Postgres.

03 Query with AI Your AI tools now have a local bridge to that data. Ask in plain language, run read-only SQL and inspect schemas. Choose an AI provider whose data policy fits your needs.

Supported connections

Connect to the data you already have.

Local files, cloud object storage, or your databases. Use SSH tunnels for private Postgres and MySQL, or reach Postgres through AWS SSM with your existing IAM roles.

Local files Parquet, CSV, SQLite and more, straight from disk. Drop a folder to browse file groups and query matching files together.

Amazon S3 Objects and datasets from your buckets, with the IAM credentials you already have.

Postgres Query PostgreSQL read-only, directly or through an SSH jump host.

MySQL Query MySQL and MariaDB read-only, directly or through an SSH tunnel.

Postgres via AWS SSM Reach a private instance through an SSM tunnel. No bastion hosts, no SSH keys.

Credentials you already issued Use your existing IAM and database credentials. SSH tunnels support an agent, key file or password, with host keys checked against known_hosts.
